Join us for worship at Zion on Sunday, April 14, or Wednesday, April 17! In this week’s reading from Acts we hear how Peter, after healing a man unable to walk, preaches to the people, describing how God’s promises to Israel have been fulfilled in Jesus. Through the proclamation of Christ’s death and resurrection, God is offering them forgiveness and restoration in Jesus’ name. In John’s letter, he writes of God’s love for us as children of God. Luke’s gospel tells of an appearance of Jesus after his resurrection that opens the minds of the disciples to understand him as Messiah, and convinces them that he has been raised and sends them on a mission to proclaim the message of repentance and forgiveness.

Presenters
Dr. David W. Anderson is known ecumenically and internationally for his work in cross+generational faith formation and outreach. “Where Christ is present in faith, the home is church, too.” This message has been at the heart of Anderson’s work as a pastor, speaker, coach, and author. Through his leadership at The Youth & Family Institute, Vibrant Faith Ministries, and now as co-director at Milestones Ministry, LLC, he helps develop resources, coaches leaders, and makes presentations to promote the vital partnership between home and congregation for the sake of a world in need of the good news of Jesus Christ.
Gloria M. Anderson is the Milestones Ministry Faith Formation Specialist and a retired school teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience. She has a passion for teaching and regularly using resources that nurture the Christian faith. Together with her husband, David, she has experienced a rich variety of milestones ministry occasions with family and friends in their home. She is very committed to help people speak the faith out loud and to practice the faith in daily life. As a grandmother, she now looks forward to nurture the Christian faith with a whole new generation of young people.
David and Gloria have been married for 44 years. Together they have raised two children (Kirsten and Jeremy). Kirsten and her husband, Matthew, and Jeremy and his wife, Kirsti, have blessed David and Gloria with six grand daughters, all of whom live within minutes of each other. Their family life has allowed them to actively engage in the faith practices David and Gloria have been teaching over the years.
Rev. Mark Asleson graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1979. He has served four congregations since then, most recently serving as Senior Pastor at Dilworth Lutheran in Dilworth, MN for the past 22 years before retiring last year. One of his greatest joys has been teaching all five living generations; engaging and encouraging parents, grandparents, congregational and community mentors, and youth in living faith in daily life beyond the doors of the church building. He has had the opportunity to share this joy at events and workshops in congregations, at Synod assemblies, and at leadership events at Luther Seminary. His wife, Sandy, was a teacher for over 31 years, with her last 20 years spent teaching kindergarten. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.
Bishop Larry Wohlrabe was born in Mankato, MN. He graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Luther Seminary, St. Paul. Luther Seminary also awarded him a Doctor of Ministry degree “with distinction” in 2003. Ordained in 1981, he served congregations in Willmar, St. James, and Moorhead—all in Minnesota. He was also on the staff of Luther Seminary, St. Paul, and the SW MN Synod ELCA, Redwood Falls, MN. Larry was elected bishop of the Northwestern Minnesota Synod in June of 2007 and re-elected, to a second 6-year term, in June of 2013. Larry’s wife, Joy, has worked many years as a hospice and homecare social worker in St James, Redwood Falls, and Breckenridge, MN. They have two young adult children: Erik Wohlrabe of St. Paul, MN; and Kristen Haddorff (married to Aaron) of Minneapolis, MN. Two grandchildren round out the family: Olivia and Micah Haddorff.
